Valencia Basket seeks to stay strong at home to break their losing streak vs. Olympiacos

29/11/2017

LLa Fonteta returns to host a Turkish Airlines Euroleague game two weeks later with the visit of Olympiacos Piraeus (Thursday 30, 20: 30h, Fonteta, Movistar Sports 1) in a match that has been designated by the organization of the tournament as the Game of the Week The team squad will try to assert the Fonteta factor to break their bad dynamics after chaining five consecutive defeats in European competition. Although the precedents against Greek teams are positive in the Fonteta, Valencia Basket will try to get their first victory against the red and white team at home.

And to do so, Valencia Basket recovers the participation of captain Rafa Martínez (absent in Germany for a gastrointestinal virus), although he keeps four other players injured: Bojan Dubljevic, Alberto Abalde, Antoine Diot and Latavious Williams. Erick Green will face his last season’s team as the fourth best scorer of the competition, with an average of 15.7 points per game. The taronja team has a record of 3 wins and 6 defeats after playing six of their nine games away, with four of the last five games as visitors, which places the taronja squad in the 12th position of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague.

Vidorreta: “Grit our teeth to recover the winning path”

Valencia Basket coach Txus Vidorreta said in the press conference previous to the Turkish Airlines Euroleague round 10 game vs. Olympiacos Piraeus (Thursday 30, 20: 30h, Fonteta, Movistar Deportes 1) that "I am calm to see how the team works and how we play basketball, although obviously I'm not satisfied because I think we could take a couple more victories in Euroleague. What marks the work of a team is its ability to react and adapt, the way in which we are rebuilding in the face of adversity. And in that aspect, these players are irreproachable. Against Olympiacos, which is co-leader and one of the biggest in Europe, we have to grit our teeth because we want to recover the path of victory, which is what our work and our ability to overcome deserve".
