Jaume Ponsarnau, new Valencia Basket head coach

Valencia Basket has reached an agreement with Jaume Ponsarnau (Tàrrega, 04/28/1971, 47 years old) to become the head coach of the first Men’s team with a 1-year contract, until on June 30, 2019. Ponsarnau has been part of the taronja coaching staff as assistant coach for the last two seasons, with a balance of two titles (Endesa League and Endesa Supercup) and two other finals. In his list of achievements, in addition to the titles won with Valencia Basket, three medals shine with the Spanish National Basketball Team (one gold in the Eurobasket of 2015 and two bronzes in the 2013 Eurobasket  and the 2016 Olympic Games) and one silver as head coach in the 2014 U-20 European Championship.

 

The Catalan coach will return to exercise as the head coach in the Endesa League just three years after his last experience and has a record of 244 games as head coach in the top national basketball category between Manresa and Gipuzkoa Basket, in addition to another six seasons as assistant coach, five of them as an assistant in the Endesa League.
