Jr. NBA World Championship – Europe Training Camp atendees have already arrived to Valencia

The boys and girls who will represent Europe in the first Jr. NBA World Championship, the global basketball tournament for elite youngsters between 13 and 14 years old from all over the world, have been arriving in Valencia throughout the day to start tomorrow with his preparation for the tournament. The earliest to reach our city have had this afternoon the opportunity to see the facilities of L'Alqueria del Basket in which they will work for the next three days and to make their first shots in the largest youth basketball facilities in Europe.

 

The two teams, consisting of 10 players each, will have the presence of boys and girls from 12 countries in Europe, including three from Spain, three from Lithuania and two from the United Kingdom, Finland, Italy and Sweden, respectively. These young players will face until August 3 a training camp that will serve as preparation for the final tournament, that will take place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando from August 7 to 12, 2018. L'Alqueria del Basket will allow both teams to practice together for the first time, to carry out teamwork activities in the same facilities. The teams were selected by a committee of coaches and members of the NBA after the Jr. NBA World Championship Europe Camp, a week-long selection camp, which was held from April 30 to May 4 in Rogla, Slovenia.

 

Final boys roster: Josep Svoboda (Czech Republic), Marc Mendoza (England), Eric Chime (Finland), Luka Alavidze (Georgia), Emmanouil Dimou (Greece), Liutauras Serkevicius (Lithuania), Mattia Durante (Italy), Aurimas Buskevicius (Sweden), Mikai Klintman (Sweden) and Yigit Ali Uysal (Turkey).

 

Final girls roster: Carolina Ruiz Molina (Spain), Carlota Lázaro Lahoz (Spain), Berta Oliveras (Spain), Tinu Fakunle (England), Juliana Haddad (Finland), Laura di Stefano (Italy), Raina Tomasicka (Latvia), Juste Veronika Jocyte (Lithuania), Neda Pliatkus (Lithuania) and Jovana Spasovski (Serbia).

 

The boys’ team will be coached by Alessandro Nocera (Italy) and Eero Levä (Finland), while the girls' team will be coached by Uros Dragicevic (Spain) and Lina Brazdeikyte (Lithuania).

 

Global tournament

The Jr. NBA World Championship will have a boy's and girl's division, each one consisting of 16 regional teams (8 from the United States and 8 international teams) that will travel with all expenses paid to compete in the inaugural event. The Jr. NBA World Championship will include a competition in an all-in-one format followed by individual elimination tournaments. The winners of the US and international crosses will play in the World Championship Game on August 12
