04/12/2018

The fifth training sesión of the seventh project of One Team with Valencia Basket worked with the non-verbal communication, with body and face expression as well as other signs such as communication systems of great importance for daily life.

At the information level, the session served to learn about the personal story of Susana Gómez, Attention to Citizenship Director of the Hospital La Fe, who has verified in first person the importance of the work done by Moms in Action. “I joined ‘’Mamás en acción’’ in order to do the paperwork and to speed up the relationship between them and the hospital. Then I discovered their task and I couldn’t avoid falling in love. When I met them, it was automatic, I said: ‘’I’ve found the place to colaborate” she said. For her, as an expert in this subject, it is a vital effort for children. "To the sick kids that are under state custody and don’t have a mom or a dad taking care of them this is a big value" she analyzed.

And according to this, she has its main work in the NGO. “As I am medical professional I have access to conferences and congresses where I can spread Mamás en Acción’s work in the Valencian Community. I’m conviced the recovery is much better if you have someone who takes care of you and gives you affecttion" she says.

The work, in addition, is comforting. “Spending three or four hours acompannying  someone at the hospital is very gratifying, spending time taking care. These kids are our future, if we help them we are helping ourselves, and not all the kids are born under the same conditions” she explained. One Team  values are very important here. “Sometimes, socialisng with another kids is difficult for kids that live in a shelter. These activities help them to meet another kids with their same situation through sport" she said.
