17/06/2021

Valencia Basket and coach Jaume Ponsarnau will not continue their professional relationship once the Catalan coach's contract to direct the first men's team of our Club has ended.

In his three seasons as head coach, Ponsarnau has become the first coach in our history to qualify the men's professional squad for three consecutive Liga Endesa semi-finals, in addition to adding the seventh title to the Club's history by winning the EuroCup 2018-19. In continental competitions, Jaume leaves as the coach with the most victories in Europe (51) and maintains the record for consecutive victories in continental competition with the 15 wins he chained in the EuroCup won two seasons ago (tied with Miki Vukovic).

Jaume Ponsarnau came to our Club in the summer of 2016 to join as assistant coach, forming part of the coaching staff that won the Liga Endesa 2016-17 and the Endesa SuperCup 2017. In the summer of 2018 he was promoted to the task of directing the first Valencia Basket men's team. In total there have been 201 official games in front for Ponsarnau, with a balance of 120 victories and 81 defeats (59.7% of victories).

Valencia Basket wants to thank Jaume for his work during the five seasons in which he has belonged to our Club and wishes him the best in his personal and sporting future.
