Visit to Aris Midea Thessaloniki in a game to help raise awareness of the situation after the DANA

05/11/2024

Valencia Basket men's team returns to competition after the postponement of their last two games due to the devastating consequences caused by the storm that hit our region last week. The taronja squad will visit the court of Aris Midea Thessaloniki (Wednesday 6, 19:00h, Nick Galis Hall, Movistar Deportes) for a Round 7 game in the BKT EuroCup.

While it is inevitable that the mind and heart remain with those affected by this tragedy, the team will try to use this game to raise awareness at a European level of the situation in our province, pay tribute to the victims, and help ensure that this issue is not forgotten, so that aid continues to reach those in need.

A representative from the Spanish Embassy in Greece will be present at the game, and both teams will jointly participate in a tribute to the victims and those affected, which will conclude with a moment of silence in memory of those who lost their lives during this disaster.

This game will be played in the first arena where Valencia Basket played an official game in Greece, the Aris Thessaloniki court, marking their third visit to this venue, where they have always emerged victorious.

Point guard Chris Jones has begun his gradual return to team practices after undergoing surgery on his right hand during the summer. Although he partially participated in this morning’s session with his teammates, he is not yet ready to be included in the roster and has returned to Valencia. Ethan Happ did not travel to Greece due to discomfort in his right foot, nor did Goran Filipovic due to back issues, so young Jorge Carot has completed the final roster list.

Valencia Basket currently holds the top spot in Group B with a 5-0 record, with a pending game against 7Bet-Lietkabelis Panevezys.
