Valencia Basket vs. Casademont Zaragoza post-game quotes: Pedro Martínez

15/11/2024

“There are always things that can be improved. I think we adapted really well to Zaragoza’s defense, and we played with a lot of determination against it. Especially, we started the game with a lot of accuracy, and that gives you a lot of confidence. What I liked the most is that we played with tempo. The accuracy doesn’t even need to be mentioned, but honestly, I don’t care much about the accuracy itself. Of course, every player wants to make their shots, but what’s important is that they have the determination to take them, and that’s something we always have, even on days when we don’t hit our shots, like recently in Thessaloniki, where we couldn’t make a single one, but the shots were practically the same. So, you have to persevere in that, whether the shots go in or not. But I do think that today, and the other day at home, it’s a bit easier with the energy our fans give us. We were really good with the tempo, and that’s what I liked the most. Defensively, we were good, but there were some easy baskets, close to the rim, by Dubljevic, and some penetrations by their small players, where we weren’t solid enough. Some missed opportunities and fouls. For example, in the last quarter, they scored 30 points— that’s excessive, too many. But sometimes, when a game breaks open, it’s hard to maintain consistency for the full 40 minutes.”
