The leadership of Group B of the 7DAYS EuroCup is at stake at Gran Canaria Arena

31/01/2022

Valencia Basket faces the last of its series of four games in eight days to visit the Gran Canaria’s court (Tuesday 1, 9:00 p.m., Gran Canaria Arena, DAZN/Movistar+ dial 60) in a 7DAYS EuroCup round 12 game in which the leadership of group B is at stake. A first position that the taronja team would reach in the event of winning in the yellow team's court and that if the victory comes by 2 or more points, it will bring an extra prize by winning the basket-average between this two teams against a direct rival at the top of the group.

This clash will be the first visit in continental competitions to the Gran Canaria Arena, with the Claretian team becoming the ninth Spanish opponent Valencia Basket faces in European tournaments. Valencia Basket will try to extend a streak that is already eight wins in a row, although their precedents on this court are not positive in the Endesa League (they have lost in their last five visits and have not won at the Gran Canaria Arena since October 2016) to improve their record against Spanish rivals in Europe, which is currently eight wins and fifteen losses.

It will be the fourth time that these two teams will face each other this season, with a win for each in official games (Valencia Basket won the Endesa League’s one on Friday of last week by 91-62 and Gran Canaria won the first leg match by 89-90) and Taronja victory in preseason.

Josep Puerto (isolated at home due to COVID-19) and Víctor Claver (injured in his left foot) still sidelined, while Icelandic point guard Martin Hermannsson was unable to finish the game on the Lenovo Tenerife’s court due to a contusion in the right quadriceps and we will have to wait for his evolution to see if he can play against the yellows.

Valencia Basket currently occupies the second position in group B of the 7DAYS EuroCup, with 8-3 in the standings
