Valencia Basket seek the ticket to the 7DAYS Eurocup quarterfinals receiving Unicaja

24/01/2017

Valencia Basket will have the first opportunity to certify their presence in the 7DAYS EuroCup quarterfinals in the week 4 Top 16 game that will take Unicaja to visit the Fonteta (Wednesday 25, 20:30, Fonteta, Teledeporte / Eurosport2). A taronja triumph would secure the ticket to the quarterfinals. And a local triumph vs. Malaga coupled with a defeat of ALBA Berlin in Zagreb would guarantee Valencia Basket to pass as first ranked and have the home court advantage in the quarterfinals. Coach Pedro Martínez will once again have his twelve professional players available for this game.

The Taronja team defend the best streak in the competition (nine wins in a row) against a rival who has beaten twice this season. In addition to the direct clashes against Unicaja in the last two seasons (5 wins and 1 defeat to the Taronja team), the story is also favorable to Valencia Basket in their home games against other Spanish teams in European competitions. The Taronja team is the leader of the group H of the 7DAYS EuroCup with a balance of 3-0.

P. Martínez: “Having won them twice will make it harder to beat them 3 times”

Valencia Basket coach, Pedro Martinez, has indicated in the pre-match press conference of the week 4 Top 16 7DAYS EuroCup game that expects "few surprises. There has not been much time, a week between one game and the other and we hope to find what we have already seen in the two previous games. Much equality and games decided in the second half by small details. It is what we have to expect and I believe what will happen. A very close game, we have to prepare and go with the same mentality of the previous matches. It's a very important game for us. We can fall into thinking that as we have already won two very difficult matches, you will always win them. But it is just the opposite. Having won Unicaja twice will make it harder to beat them three times, much more difficult”
