María lives a dream with One Team - One Team VIII, Week IX

24/02/2020

The ninth training day of the eighth Euroleague RSC One Team project with Valencia Basket served to work on the concept of respect among the members of the Maria Auxiliadora Foundation, with games and activities aimed at learning to work respecting the work of their teammates.

This session served to get to know María’s feelings, a member of the Laura Vicuña Center who is enjoying the One Team project a lot. “I started because they asked me and I said yes to take advantage and spend more time with my classmates. I had a great time and I felt very comfortable from the first day” he said.

Maria didn’t know what to expect from an activity, which she has ended up enjoying more than anyone else. “It has been like a dream, really. Everything happens very fast. The coaches are very friendly, they don't get angry, I really like how they behave with everyone. They taught me the companionship, respect, education, and even not screaming, they also tell me this many times” says the protagonist while she smiles remembering that moment.

It helped Maria to improve her relationship with her classmates and share more with them. After living it, she recommends anyone who has the possibility to participate in the One Team program. “I have spent more time with my teammates. I am excited to come with the van, with the teachers, play with everyone... I would tell anyone to participate, even if they aren’t good at basketball, I recommind them to sign up and come to enjoy this with Valencia Basket” she concluded.

Maria Auxiliadora Foundation

Promoted by the daughters of María Auxiliadora (Salesianas), its fundamental mission is to respond to the socio-educational needs of children, teenagers, youth and women at risk and/or social exclusion. The Foundation tries to respond, through all the projects and services it carries out, to the needs of the groups in a situation of exclusion and to help transform our society into a more fair and more humane world. The goal is that all the people who participate in the project feel welcomed, valued and protagonists of their own growth process. Through this, social projects for inclusion, promotion and social and labor insertion are promoted.

Ten sessions, one goal

This project "One Team VIII" has planned ten training sessions that will take place on Fridays from November 8 in the afternoon until January. With them, the participants live positive experiences and develop healthy habits of self-improvement that can be transferred to the school or work environment. All this through learning the basics of a collective sport such as basketball, which will help participants to know the values of sacrifice and responsibility that derive from organized exercise, use sport as a formula for personal development and make them take the steps towards that they can find in the practice of any sport activity a way to grow as people.
