A month full of challenges for Valencia Basket

10/03/2021

The final of the Copa de la Reina has been just the beginning of a final stretch of the season full of challenges for Valencia Basket. With no time for regrets after losing to Spar Girona, the team and the coaching staff are putting on their work overalls to face what comes in the next month.

Starting with the most immediate, Valencia Basket receives Perfumerías Avenida this Saturday at La Fonteta in what will be a battle for the leadership of the LF Endesa. The Salamanca team is still undefeated but the taronja team is on its heels with only one defeat. In case Rubén Burgos' team wins this game with a bigger difference than the victory of Perfumerías Avenida in the first leg (71-69), Valencia Basket would depend on itself to finish the regular phase as leader.

Right after this clash, the taronja team returns to bubble mode in Valencia to play the round of 16 of the EuroCup Women. Next Tuesday, March 16, they will face Aluinvent DVTK Miskolc, in a single game, for a place in the quarterfinals to be played two days later, also in La Fonteta. In case of winning, Valencia Basket will face the team that wins the Sparta&k M.R. Vidnoje-ESBVA-LM game. The next step would be the Final Four with the semifinals and the final, to be played between April 9 and 11 at a venue to be determined.

After the bubble of the Fallas week, Rubén Burgos' team faces a busy final stretch of the regular league with four games in eight days, two of them that had been postponed, between March 20 and 27. The quarterfinals of the playoffs will start on March 31, the semifinals on April 7 (coinciding with the EuroCup Women's Final Four) and the LF Endesa final on April 14.

Valencia Basket wants, as it has already done in the Copa de la Reina, to go as far as possible in all the competitions it plays. With only three years in the highest category of Spanish basketball, the project continues to take steps forward and success will only be a matter of time.
