Valencia Basket, facing the challenge of getting its best version to host CSKA Moscow

03/02/2021

Valencia Basket faces the difficult challenge of becoming strong again at home and returning to the path of triumph in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague hosting one of the strongest teams in the competition, the second classified and candidate for all this season CSKA Moscow (Thursday 4, 9:00 p.m., Fonteta, DAZN / Movistar channel 60) in a game corresponding to round 24 of the top European competition.

After the double European defeat last week and the victory achieved in the Endesa League at the Unicaja’s court, the Taronja squad needs to recover its best feelings to try to break its bad dynamics in the Euroleague (one win in the last seven games) and not let grow the gap from the teams that make the cutoff in the Playoffs zone.

The taronja squad, which this afternoon announced that Fernando San Emeterio is isolated after testing positive for COVID-19, will continue without the guard Joan Sastre and point guard Guillem Vives, but Derrick Williams will be available after resting in Sunday's game at the Unicaja’s court.

To achieve this goal, Valencia Basket will have to contain the best attack in the competition and try to recover its best offensive feelings, which have led our squad to lead the competition in assists and in 2-points shooting percentage. Although the precedents in the Fonteta are positive for the taronja team (2-1 for the local side), the Russian team won emphatically the last time they visited Valencia and won the first leg game by 84-75. The Valencian team begins this day 24 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague in the eleventh position of the tournament with an 11-12 in the standings.
