Valencia Basket closes the week on the court of the hottest team in the acb, Cazoo Baskonia

07/01/2023

Valencia Basket will try to close its first week of three games of the year in a positive way on the court of one of the hottest teams in Europe and the best in the acb, Cazoo Baskonia (Sunday 8, 6:30 p.m., Fernando Buesa Arena, #Vamos) in a round 15 game of the Endesa League.

The Taronja team will return to the court less than 44 hours after their defeat in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and will try to recover energy to look for the good defensive version of the second half of Friday's game against an opponent who is the outstanding leader of the main offensive statistics in the Endesa League.

Although history says that Vitoria is the Arena in which Valencia Basket has its worst record of victories in the entire acb, last season for the first time it was able to win twice at the Fernando Buesa Arena. And it will try to extend on Sunday a peculiar dynamic that says that for 19 months neither of these two teams has asserted the home-court advantage in the confrontations between them.

Van Rossom, Claver, Hermannsson and Millán Jiménez will stay sidelined for the next games. Also coach Mumbrú will have to leave out for this game one of his non-EU players (Rivero, Webb or Harper) due to the nationality restrictions of the Endesa League. The young player from L'Alqueria del Basket Lucas Marí will complete the 12-man list.

Valencia Basket defends in this game the 8th position with a balance of 7-7 that would currently give it access to the Final Round of the Copa del Rey.
