Valencia Basket appeals to the #CalderaTaronja vs. the hottest team in Europe, Olympiacos Piraeus

23/02/2023

The Euroleague returns after two weeks of hiatus and does it in a big way with one of the best games possible. The Valencia Basket men's team will need all the support of their #CalderaTaronja to try to break their particular curse at home against the hottest team on the continent, Olympiacos Piraeus (Friday 24, 8:30 p.m., Fonteta, DAZN/Movistar+ dial 65) in a Turkish Airlines EuroLeague round 25 game.

The Taronja squad will try to extend its recent good dynamics in the top continental competition (six wins in the last seven games) against an opponent that has not lost since January 10 and the only rival of the current Euroleague participants at that Valencia Basket has never been able to win at La Fonteta (six Greek victories so far in the precedents).

Álex Mumbrú's men will need La Fonteta more than ever to become the sixth player to give an additional boost to a squad that is beginning to recover players. With Martin Hermannsson sidelined despite the fact that he returned to train with the group this week after his serious knee injury and the absence of the long-term injured Sam Van Rossom and Millán Jiménez, Coach will have to rule out one of the thirteen players available.

As a model, the victory in the first leg game in Piraeus by 82-83 with the three decisive free throws by Chris Jones and the final block by James Webb III. Valencia Basket begins this day located in the 8th position with a balance of 13-11.
