With the good aftertaste of the end of last season, Pamesa Valencia builds a new project with which to make a leap in quality. A large part of the same core that finished the previous season with good sensations is maintained, with Albert Oliver and Vule Avdalovic at the point guard position, with Rubén Douglas and the return of Álex Urtasun at the shooting guard position and with Mindaugas Timinskas and Víctor Claver at the small forward position alternating with the power forward position. Inside, Rubén Garcés and the Serbian Dejan Milojevic, who missed the last year due to a serious knee injury, continue to play. Greek coach Fotis Katsikaris remains on the bench.
Three new players join the team: American point guard Shammond Williams, coming from the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers, American small forward Fred House from TAU Cerámica and veteran Serbian center Zeljko Rebraca, with a long history of success in Europe as a reference player.
The season begins with setbacks, such as the injury of Rubén Garcés in one of the first games. This injury, which lasted two months, forced to go to the market in search of a replacement. The chosen one is TAU center Stanko Barac, who arrives on loan to Valencia until the end of the year. Once Garcés recovered, Rebraca's heart problems forced the Serbian player to retire prematurely from basketball.
Unfortunately, it was not going to be the only setback in the form of injury. The game at the Fonteta against Deutsche Bank Frankfurts Skyliners belonging to the first phase of the ULEB Cup was to remain in the bitter memory, when Vule Avdalovic fell to the court. The knee injury would make him miss the whole season.
The injury problems even reached the Copa del Rey, where a depleted team withstood half a game against DKV Joventut, the eventual champion of the competition with a stellar Rudy Fernández.
The team remained in fifth place in the ACB standings while preparing for the final stretch of the ULEB Cup, in which it overcame rivals, both in the group stage and in the preliminary elimination rounds. Two playoffs and two comebacks remembered by the Fonteta against the Greek team of Panionios and KK Zadar, the last obstacles in the fight to reach the Final Eight in Turin. Once there, a bad game against the team that would become champion, DKV Joventut, would leave Pamesa Valencia without the dream of reaching the Euroleague via Europe.
Back home, the team faces the end of the season trying to reach the Play-Offs quarterfinals in the best conditions. A defeat in Vitoria leaves the team with no chance of reaching the fourth place, held precisely by TAU, who will be the opponent in the 3-game playoff. The first loss in Vitoria does not dampen the morale of the team, which responds with a great victory in the Fonteta with a great second half by Williams. However, the superiority of the Vitoria team decided the tie for the Basques in the last game. As in the Cup and ULEB, the winner will win the title.
