The 2021-22 season began with a change on the bench, where Jaume Ponsarnau gave way to another Catalan coach, Joan Peñarroya, who joined the club from San Pablo Burgos. Along with him, from Burgos, the Cuban Jasiel Rivero joined the team.
The roster underwent more changes, in the point guard position, the duo of Sam Van Rossom and Martin Hermannsson was joined by the young Macedonian Nenad Dimitrijevic, coming from Joventut. From the same team came Spanish international Xabi Lopez-Arostegui on the outside, along with another special return, that of Valencian Victor Claver, 9 years after his departure. Josep Puerto and Klemen Prepelic would complete the outside line. On the inside, Jaime Pradilla, Bojan Dubljevic, Mike Tobey and Louis Labeyrie would accompany newcomer Rivero.
In a start marked by injuries, several players from L'Alqueria del Basket were lucky enough to help the first team, such as Guillem Ferrando and Millán Jiménez, with a more prominent role, and others like Gonzalo Bressan, Rafa Vila or Álex Bellver.
Despite the injuries, the team managed to maintain a good line in both the Endesa League and the Eurocup, achieving victories of merit such as the one obtained in the Palau Blaugrana with few first team players available. The good trajectory allowed the team to reach the Copa del Rey in Granada, where a bad game against UCAM Murcia meant being knocked out in the quarterfinals.
In the 7Days Eurocup, the good regular phase led to a good second position for the crossings, which allowed to play the decisive matches in the Fonteta. However, a great Virtus of Bologna, eventually champion of the tournament, would leave the Taronja without reaching the desired final, winning in the semifinals at the Taronja home.
Just before reaching the playoffs for the title, an unfortunate injury to Klemen Prepelic in Murcia led to a change in the squad, the arrival of Oliver Hanlan at shooting guard. The Taronja completed the regular phase in fourth position, having to face Baskonia in the quarterfinals with home-court advantage. In a 3-game series in which the visitors always won their games, the third duel at the Fonteta sealed the series in favor of the Vitorianos, in a game where Martin Hermannsson's serious knee injury was a devastating emotional blow from which the Taronja were unable to recover, putting an end to their season.
